Strengthen Your Roof Program
Grants for FORTIFIED roofs for Outer Banks and Barrier Islands homeowners insured by North Carolina Insurance Underwriting Association (NCIUA), available at any income level. The program expanded by $20 million in 2025. More Details.
NCIUA Stronger Roof Program
After a covered loss, eligible policyholders may elect to upgrade their roof to a FORTIFIED Roof and receive up to $5,000, subject to policy terms and conditions. More Details.

Fortified Discounts
Wilmington Area homeowners can qualify for insurance discounts by installing a FORTIFIED Roof™ or building a FORTIFIED Home™. Savings range from 6% to 19% off the wind portion of the property owner's insurance.
Free FORTIFIED Roof Endorsement
Eligible policies with the North Carolina Insurance Underwriting Association (NCIUA) can re-roof to FORTIFIED for free when a covered claim results in roof replacement. Other insurers offer FORTIFIED Roof endorsements, but the cost varies.
